Something really special for a wedding photographer is the oppertunity to see a couple together after 50 years! A wedding anniversary is not much different than a wedding reception. The family is bigger, hopefully… the bride and groom a bit wiser, hopefully… LOL! It’s amazing and special to see a couple still together after so many years. Even more so, still as in love and frisky as Jeanne and Dave!

Ya know, yea, sometimes everybody smiling in the photos is appropriate but what about those times when it’s not? Sometimes capturing the true emotion of the people you are photographing is what truly matters. Even if it isn’t a smile…
Who is more brave?
The mother diagnosed with cancer… The 15 year old girl who has to face the idea that her mother may die… What about the sister who may soon have to step up to be a mother… Or the mother who may outlive her daughter…
All 4 incredibly strong, beautiful women! All 4 dealing with more emotion than anybody should have to deal with in a lifetime!
I felt honored to be given the opportunity to capture a moment in their lives so full of emotion, fear and a sense of the unknown for what their future holds…
Fourth of July fun! I probably should have taken more photos of my friends but man… I was so excited to try my hand at capturing fireworks. I did manage to get a couple really great candids though.
This is why hiring a professional photographer at your event can really be invaluable! I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say they brought their cameras to some of the parties that I have gone to but that they were so glad I had been there to take pictures. As a guest or host at a party, it is easy to get caught up in the party and forget to snap a few memories! That is where I come in! I have learned over the past couple of months that I really prefer to take photos of people who are enjoying life!

A new found love for fire. A little over a year ago I picked up 2 tennis balls in a pair of socks and tried my hardest to spin them in different patterns around my body. Unfortunately, there was more bonking than spinning going on and after a couple months of practice I finally gave up. Poi is always something I have loved and admired though. I can’t think of a better way to compensate for the fact that I am just not coordinated enough to do this myself than to photograph other people doing it!!!
Even more exciting to me is the idea that I can take photos of people doing what they love!

Sorry about the extensive time laps between posts. I have been a busy little photographer. A weekend art festival, fourth of July and several private photo shoots have kept me in editing mode for several weeks now. I figured now would be a good time to stop and take a breath. Maybe share a few photos.
One of the coolest things to photograph is art festivals in the summer. There are always amazing things to capture such as costumes, fire, children playing, adult debauchery…
Here are a few shots from this weekend. Next time you are hosting a costume party of some sort keep me in mind. These style of photos really make lasting memories and are much more fun for your friends to look at than aunt marges florida vacation, LOL!
Enjoying a day to myself mostly. Met with a couple of clients in the morning, I found myself with the rest of the afternoon to myself. I just happened to be near a local skate park. Thought I would check it out.
There really is no limit to what I can photograph. Getting photos of yourself does not have to be boring and it certainly does not have to be done in a studio! Some of the best photos I have taken of people have been of them doing the things they love most.

I apologize, I have been so busy lately with clients, getting these blogs up has fallen short. In hind site I realize, I should be making a quick post for each photo shoot. How else are my fans going to keep up w ith my crazy ninja photographer skills, LOL!
I had the opportunity to shoot some local talent this week. Ryan Dwyer is a pianist for hire in the Portland area. He hired me to get some professional head shots for his website. He was so easy to work with. The shoot went really fast and we got some great stuff.

Really working hard to keep up with all the wonderful photo ops here in Portland. Last weekend we had our annual gay pride weekend. I had the chance to work on my event photography skills for an awesome cause!

I think that every mom should be allowed to feel beautiful! No change that… I think every woman should be allowed to feel beautiful!!!
I did a session yesterday with Betty. She was great! There was an instant connection, she was so easy going and confidant it was a pleasure to photograph her. Throughout the shoot I got the chance to get to know her a bit. She had an such an interesting story. Getting married very young, she had never really gotten the chance to get out and experience things. When I asked her why she choose to have her photos taken she explained to me, between husband, daughter and work… she wanted something just for her. An experience documented for memories, just because. She absolutely deserved it and I felt honored that she chose me to help her! She shared some of her dreams and aspirations with me. Hopefully this photo shoot will help jump start her into taking the next step to making them come true!
She looked absolutly SEXY!!!
